DFB File Simplifies Integration

In November 2008, ProSoft will release a Modbus TCP/IP to PROFIBUS DPV1 Master gateway (5204-MNET-PDPMV1) that comes equipped with a new importable DFB (derived function blocks) file designed to simplify and expedite your integration process.

The DFB file contains the Modbus TCP/IP functional commands required to communicate with the gateway database and your PROFIBUS slave devices. The XML file can be imported directly into the M340 UnityPro program, minimizing ladder logic development and providing a higher degree of product integration. With additional DFBs, the gateway allows pass-through acyclic message communication directly to the PROFIBUS Master or Slave devices.

PROFIBUS DPV1 Master Module

The PROFIBUS DPV1 Master Communication Module (PTQ-PDPMV1) enables Schneider Electric Quantum processors to access field data from up to 125 PROFIBUS DP slaves. Features include:
  • Field Device Tool (FDT) and Device Type Manager (DTM) to standardize the interface between systems and field devices, to simplify configuration, and to assist in asset management.
  • Hot Standby: allows the PROFIBUS network to be controlled by two Quantum/Unity processors (Model SE 140 671 CPU), so that should the primary power source fail, the secondary module will switch into primary mode in under 300 miliseconds.
  • Freeze and sync capabilities
  • 1536 bytes of acyclic I/O data transfer
  • No setup parameters required. Module automatically detects Hot Standby system

In-rack Flow Computer with Custody Transfer

The new 2.05 version upgrade has been released for the ProTalk liquid and gas flow computer for Schneider Electric Quantum processors. The new version incorporates a Modbus Dictionary that indexes the Modbus tags and their definitions for quick reference. The PTQ-AFC flow computer is equipped with support for multiple streams (16 meter runs with 4 streams per meter) and allows the PLC to switch the active stream via the module over the backplane of the controller. A Modbus Master port allows users to poll data from a remote chromatograph device. The PTQ-AFC is certified for custody transfer.
