IEC 61850: A Protocol with Powerful Potential
As the international standard for power substation automation systems, IEC 61850 defines the communication between devices in the substation and related system requirements. Although there are over 50 protocols worldwide for substation automation, IEC 61850 is the only one that provides a standardized method of communications and integration whose goal is to support systems built from multi-vendors intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) networked together to perform protection, monitoring, automation, metering and control.

ProSoft Wireless Designer: Design a Wireless Network with a Full List of Components
ProSoft Wireless Designer (PWD) simplifies the task of planning and specifying your ProSoft Technology wireless network. The user-friendly, wizard-based interface creates a visual layout of your radios and sites, and it generates a complete bill of materials including radios, cables, lightning protection, connectors, splitters, and antennas. When creating the site layout, PWD is able to validate wireless signal strength and link feasibility based on path length, recommended accessories, distance, local regulations and hardware choices. Network site, link, and parts details can be exported into a spreadsheet.

Cellular for Remote Monitoring and Troubleshooting
Intelligent Cellular provides an easy-to-install, inexpensive solution for systems requiring long-range communication—such as water and wastewater projects which monitor remotely located pump and lift stations, flow meters, reservoirs and storage tanks. Machine builders can easily install the Intelligent Cellular radio with their machines to remotely troubleshoot customer applications around the globe. Intelligent Cellular leverages existing cellular infrastructures to bring access to these remote devices and locations. Event detection and alarm reporting allow authorized personnel to receive SMS notifications at predetermined set-points in the digital input readings, and allows for remote troubleshooting over the cellular network, saving costs in both time and travel for maintenance repairs. Support industrial operating temperatures and Class I Div 2 hazardous location certification. Versions are available for both serial and Ethernet devices for CDMA and GSM based cellular networks.
