Cellular provides cost effective alternative to satellite SCADA system
Winding one hundred miles among wooded hills and across open wheat-lands toward Medford, Oklahoma lays a Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipeline. The midstream oil company needed to monitor a dozen locations along this pipeline from a remote SCADA center in Texas over their existing satellite network, but because these 12 points were non-critical it became cost prohibitive to do so. To gain greater resolution on the pipeline, the company utilized ProSoft Technology cellular modems at these locations for an economical and successful solution.

New CAGE Number for Government Contracting
Distributors who are active in government contracting will be pleased to learn that ProSoft Technology has obtained a Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE #60NX3) code, assigned by the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). CAGE codes provide a standardized method of identifying specific vendors and their respective product part numbers in NCS databases for bidding to various U.S. government agencies, defense agencies, and other organizations.

ProSoft Wireless Designer: New update supports 802.11n series and splitters
ProSoft Wireless Designer (PWD) now supports the new 802.11n series of industrial hotspot solutions. The user-friendly, wizard-based interface creates a visual layout of your radios and sites, and generates a complete bill of materials including radios, cables, lightning protection, connectors, antennas, and new support for splitters. PWD is able to validate wireless signal strength and link feasibility based on path length, recommended accessories, distance, local regulations and hardware choices. Network site, link, and parts details can be exported into a spreadsheet.

The IEC 60870-5-104 Server to PROFIBUS DP Slave Gateway (5205-104S-PDPS) now supports Edition 2 data types and extended Cause of Transmission (COTS). With Edition 2 support of the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol, the gateway now provides an expanded subset of data types including 32 bit stream data.
