Communication network diversify improves uptime for runway lighting control
Last year 12 million commercial flights left the ground in North America. Without reliable lighting systems to facilitate aircraft movements, flights can be delayed or canceled, causing an onerous ripple affect for travelers, businesses, and airlines alike. To ensure reliability, Liberty Airport Systems designs diverse communication networks consisting of one or two fiber lines and an alternate wireless network as a backup. Network diversification becomes important because of the frequent airside construction that takes place near the primary fiber lines.

Goodtech Products uses industrial wireless to help ELKO triple production speeds
In this application, a ProSoft Technology industrial wireless network consisting of 20 hotspots was installed in the ELKO AS warehouse, which were used in conjunction with hand-held PDAs by workers. This new order-picking system allowed ELKO to calculate the most efficient sequence in which workers need to take goods off the shelves, tripling their overall efficiency and eliminating paper pick-lists.

Integrated Architecture Builder Update – More ProSoft Technology Products
Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB) now supports over 70 ProSoft Technology in-chassis and gateway products. IAB is a graphical software tool for configuring PAC and PLC-based automation systems. With this tool, users can document control systems that include ProSoft Technology in-rack communication modules and protocol gateways. The IAB generates bills of material for applications that include controllers, I/O, networks, Powerflex drives, OnMachine cabling and wiring, motion control, and other devices.

New Remote Configuration Support for PROFIBUS DP CompactLogix® Systems
The PROFIBUS DP Master V1 module communication module for the CompactLogix platform (MVI69-PDPMV1) is now equipped with CIPconnect®, a feature that allows a PC to connect to the MVI69-PDPMV1 module via the Ethernet port of a 1769-L35E or L32E module.
