PowerDsine and ProSoft Technology Join United Networx's Industrial Alliance
Hod Hasharon, Israel and Bakersfield, Calif. - December 12, 2006 - PowerDsine Ltd. {who recently announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC)}, a pioneer in Power over Ethernet (PoE), and ProSoft Technology Inc., a leading developer of industrial communication solutions, announced today that they recently became partners of the United NetworX, an international industrial alliance of hardware and software manufacturers. Other members of this industrial network alliance include Nortel Networks Corp and Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH.
The alliance allows its members to 'cluster' their technologies and generate greater synergy through joint marketing and product development activities that benefit both themselves, and more importantly, their industrial end customers.
“PowerDsine is excited to team up with other United NetworX partners to work toward offering industrial networking customers the benefits of PoE," said Igal Rotem, CEO of PowerDsine. "While PoE technology in connection with powered devices such as IP security cameras and wireless access points that communicate with VOIP phones is more readily available, I believe that the number and type of end applications is expanding to include access controls, sensors and small to medium LCD screens to monitor and control industrial processes. Also, I also believe that rate of penetration of PoE into the factory will accelerate following the implementation of the IEEE 802.3at standard which is expected to allow for the delivery of up to four times the power of the current PoE standard."
Douglas Sharratt, President of ProSoft Technology commented, “We at ProSoft Technology rely heavily on partnerships like this new alliance with United NetworX to bring us closer to the voice of our customers. Partnerships create a conduit directly to our end users and provide a forum for like-focused industrial technology firms to collaborate, innovate and generate new communication solutions for the industrial aggregate. This translates into stronger relationships with and expanded opportunities for our customers."
Dr. Georg Schneider, Vice President of Marketing and R&D of Hirschmann Automation and Control - one of the founding members of the United Networx Alliance-stated: “The goal of United Networx is to offer total network solutions for automation, starting from the networking of individual machines, through complex installations, up to whole production facilities. Together with the two new Partners we have expanded our competencies in important fields and now offer an even more comprehensive solution. I am convinced that both customers and United Networx members will benefit from this symbiosis."
