Migrate BASIC Programs to ControlLogix
Mariana Campbell
ProSoft Technology's new BASIC Emulation Module (MVI56-BAS) allows legacy BASIC programs to transparently migrate into the ControlLogix platform. The functionally of the new module is very similar to the 1771-DB and 1747-BAS modules allowing the user to create his or her own BASIC programs to read and process data from the ControlLogix. With a 386EX processor to drive the emulator, the MVI56-BAS module will support applications requiring high-speed calculations or DF1, ASCII and DH-485 communications.
Other futures include:
- Supports RS-232/422/485
- Full backplane transfer capability allows ladder logic programs to transfer data via the BASIC program
- 386EX processor allows high-speed calculations
- Allows the user to create a foreign-device specific application and easily interface with the ControlLogix processor
- Interfaces with any device using an ASCII interface to a ControlLogix backplane such as modems, printers, bar code, readers and scales
- Supports DH-485 BASIC command calls
- Saves ControlLogix processor memory by running complex math algorithms
- Acts as a DF1 full-duplex device or DF1 half-duplex slave
- Sample ladder shows DF1 and ASCII communication
