At least once a quarter, their hardwired network suffered cable degradation. Each occurrence causing the operation to shut down for up to two hours at a cost of $14,500 each instance plus the value of the parts not produced. With the aid of their Rockwell Automation® distributor, Roden Electric, Gestamp decided to use ProSoft Technology® for a wireless solution.
The new Nasiriyah Water Treatment Plant in Badaah, Iraq could rival any state-of-the art water treatment facility in the US and is estimated to supply fresh drinking water to approximately three million Iraqis. David Watts, a System Integrator from Texas spent eight weeks networking the project that saved affected Iraqis from the alternatives: a small and severely overtaxed water plant or using buckets to bail water from the river.
New, modern mills with centralized PLC/PC control replace giant millstones in a massive project that required the combined efforts of several global suppliers to ensure success.
The Changi Water Reclamation Plant is the cornerstone to the Singapore Depp Water Sewerage System. The monumental project needed low maintenance cost, remote diagnostics and integration with an asset management system, as well as fas and reliable real-time communication. They installed 160 ProSoft Technology PROFIBUS DP V1 modules to help run and monitor end devices in their PROFIBUS network.
“Festooning cables and bus bars are costly and are a frequent source of operational problems. It can cost around $10,000 for materials alone, plus installation and maintenance costs. Then w hen the equipment fails, downtime is a serious problem to a customer and can sometimes take a day to repair,” explains Senior Electrical and Automation Project Engineer, Robert Dunlop.
The solution; Andritz placed a satellite GPS system on each crane to accurately determine their respective locations on a rail. Andritz selected ProSoft Technology RadioLinx Industrial HotspotTM Ethernet radios (RLX-IH) as the wireless solution.
