'C' Programmable Communications Interface for ControlLogix

MVI56-ADM

The MVI56 Application Development Module is a ControlLogix backplane compatible module that allows user-developed 'C' applications to operate on the ControlLogix platform. A great way to speed up custom ASCII data communications or to protect a proprietary algorithm, the ADM is a powerful tool for the ControlLogix platform.

Features and Benefits

Powerful platform for developing and running 'C' applications on Rockwell Automation's ControlLogix processors. The MVI56-ADM module is a single slot, backplane compatible solution for the Rockwell Automation ControlLogix platform. This module is a powerful and programmable solution supporting two fully isolated serial ports allowing the many serial field devices to be integrated into the ControlLogix platform.

PRT1 and PRT2 are jumper configured for direct or Multidrop field communication. The application program can be written to control the two application ports independently, allowing maximum flexibility in the design.

General Specifications

  • Single Slot - 1756 backplane compatible
  • The module is recognized as an Input/Output module and has access to processor memory for data transfer between processor and module
  • Ladder Logic is used for data transfer between module and processor. Sample ladder file included.
  • Configuration data obtained from configuration text file downloaded to module. Sample configuration file included
  • Local or remote rack

Applications

The MVI56-ADM module is the ideal solution for many applications where serial connectivity must be added to a ControlLogix platform. Applications using the MVI56-ADM module include:

  • Bar code scanner interface
  • Legacy ASCII protocol connections
  • Terminal port emulation
  • Printer driver (alarm/status printer)
  • Customized protocol implementations
