Where do the MVI69E/L Modules store their configuration? |
Article Number: 506 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Tue, Aug 12, 2014 at 11:32 PM |
Unlike our MVI69 module series, the MVI69E and MVI69L modules do not store the configuration on the module itself or an attached compact flash card, but instead store their configurations within the processor, specifically within a controller tag created by the Add-On Instruction. Because of this, these modules may be swapped out with out the need to upload and re-download the configuration. Downloading a configuration to the processor, however, will not take your processor offline, it will only reboot the module itself (so that it will load the new configuration on reboot). IMPORTANT - Please be aware that although the configuration is stored in the controller tags, it is NOT directly user editable. You must still use Prosoft Configuration Builder to download any changes. Further, because the configuration is stored in the controller tags, if you download an old ACD file to the compact logix processor, you will also be changing the configuration file for the module. As such, if you must roll back your ACD file, it is recommended that you first upload the current configuration file to your PC, so that you may re download it after the PLC roll back. |
