What is the purpose of the battery on the PTQ modules?

The battery is a lithium rechargeable type. The battery is used for the RTC (real-time clock) and CMOS RAM. Unless the customer changes the CMOS settings and afterwards the battery were to die, (after about 3 weeks) the CMOS settings would be lost and revert to the default CMOS settings upon power-up. However, it is unlikely the customer would ever change these settings. The RTC is not used for the PDPMV1, however it would be used for other protocols such as DNP where time-date stamping is required.

Under a condition where the module's battery is dead and then inserted on a rack, a low battery light or error could appear. Please leave the module powered for 24 hours, if the BATT LED is still on then the battery should be replaced..
