EtherNet/IP to IEC60870-5-104 Client Communication Gateway

Discontinued: No new product for sale. More Info

The ProLinx EtherNet/IP to IEC60870-5-104 Client gateway creates a powerful connection between an EtherNet/IP network and IEC 104 server devices. The stand-alone, DIN-rail-mounted protocol gateway provides one Ethernet port.

The EtherNet/IP protocol supports the Explicit Messaging implementation of the protocol (PCCC-type messages). User-configurable as both a Client and a server, the EtherNet/IP port is a very powerful data transfer tool.

The IEC60870-5-104 Client protocol implementation allows the transfer of monitor and control data to and from remote servers.

Features and Benefits

Powerful network integration

  •  Allows movement of data between dissimilar networks using two communication protocols on one gateway
  •  Protocols share access to a common memory database to exchange data between networks
  •  View diagnostic data for both networks from a single configuration/debug port

EtherNet/IP Client and Server

  •  Integrate with widely available Rockwell Automation and third-party products and services worldwide
  •  Client/server Explicit Messaging communication supported (PCCC-type messages)
  •  Five server connections
  •  One client connection provides up to 100 commands

IEC 60870-5-104 Client

  •  Four connections for remote servers
  •  Supports up to two Common ASDU Addresses per server
  •  Supports monitored and control data
  •  Supports up 500 commands to the remote servers
  •  Timestamp events are available to the other protocol through the mailbox feature

General Specifications – IEC 60870-5-104C

The ProLinx family EtherNet/IP to IEC 60870-5-104 Client communications module creates a powerful connection between an EtherNet/IP network and IEC 104 server devices. The module is a stand-alone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway that provides one Ethernet port.

Internal Database

The ProLinx module contains an internal database that consists of areas for application data, status information, and configuration information.

The internal database is shared between all ports on the module and is used as a conduit to pass information from a device on one network to one or more devices on another network.

Application Data Area

The data area is used to store and retrieve data by the protocol drivers and for data exchange between protocols. The database is used as a source for write commands to remote devices and holds data collected from the remote devices. Commands defined in the configuration file (stored in the configuration data area) control how the data is to be handled in the database.

Status Data Area

This area is used to store error codes, counters, and port status information for each port.

Configuration Data Area

This area contains module configuration information such as port configuration, network information, and command configuration. This configuration file is downloaded to, or uploaded from, this area.
