Consider the Benefits: Enable Secure Remote BAS Monitoring with QuickServer Gateway Upgrade

Building automation systems (BASs) are critical to helping warehouses, material-handling settings, and manufacturing plants maintain optimal environments, lower costs, and improve energy efficiency.

By enabling remote monitoring and management of systems that range from HVAC, boilers, and chillers to lighting, fire, and security, a BAS uses one set of controls to connect and automate performance. This reduces the need for hands-on work and frees up valuable time and resources that can be redirected elsewhere.

To maintain security and prevent unauthorized system access while supporting remote monitoring and management, best practices dictate that a BAS be isolated from other industrial control system networks.

To make it easier for you to accomplish this in your own industrial environment, the most recent update to ProSoft’s Universal QuickServer Gateway product line includes the addition of dual Ethernet ports. This allows you to connect two subnets that use different protocols—a BACnet/IP network and a Modbus TCP/IP network, for example—while still isolating these networks.

In addition to supporting remote monitoring and management for BAS, this upgrade allows you to schedule preventative maintenance at the best times so that certain tasks can be completed to prevent unanticipated downtime in the future. Instead of waiting until equipment malfunctions, you can gain better insight into equipment lifecycle so you can pinpoint when downtime is most likely to occur—and then complete vital maintenance before that happens.

The Universal QuickServer Gateway also features two serial ports to facilitate communication among legacy equipment that relies on older protocols like Modbus RTU or BACnet MS/TP. Through a single device, this information can be brought into your modern workflows and processes. An embedded BACnet Explorer application helps you discover all the BACnet devices on your network.

The Universal QuickServer Gateway is available with limits of up to 250, 500, or 1,000 points of application data, and can connect building automation networks like BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, or JCI Metasys N2 with industrial control networks such as EtherNet/IP™, Modbus RTU, or Modbus TCP/IP.

It also features a smaller, more compact form factor to save space, along with a single part number for faster, easier ordering.
