Modbus-IDA is a group of independent users and suppliers of automation devices that seek to drive the adoption of the Modbus communication protocol suite and the evolution to address architectures for distributed automation systems across multiple market segments. Modbus-IDA will also provide the infrastructure to obtain and share information about the protocols, their application and certification to simplify implementation by users resulting in reduced costs.

ProSoft Technology, Inc. is a member of the PROFIBUS Trade Organization. ProSoft is involved in development, sales and support of the PROFIBUS product line. Other products benefiting from PROFIBUS applications include the RadioLinx line of wireless industrial communications solutions.

ODVA is an international association comprised of members from the world's leading automation companies. Collectively, ODVA and its members support network technologies based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP). These currently include DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, CIP Safety and CIP Sync. ODVA manages the development of these open technologies, and assists manufacturers and users of CIP-based networks through tools, training and marketing activities.

The CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) is an organization of manufacturers of CC-Link compatible products and users of CC-Link technology. The CLPA oversees and manages the CC-Link specifications and promotes the worldwide adoption of CC-Link technology for network communications in industrial automation.

The FDT Group is an open, independent, not-for-profit collaboration of international companies dedicated to establish an international standard with broad acceptance within the automation industry based on Field Device Tool technology.

DNP3 is an open and public protocol. In order to ensure the interoperability, longevity and upgradeability of the protocol, the DNP3 Users Group has taken ownership of the protocol and assumes responsibility for its evolution. The DNP3 Users Group Technical Committee evaluates suggested modifications or additions to the protocol and then amends the protocol description as directed by the Users Group members.
