The MVI69 IEC 60870-5-104 Edition 2 Ethernet Server Communication Module allows Rockwell Automation CompactLogix processors to interface easily with IEC 60870-5-104 protocol hosts. This latest version of ProSoft Technology's IEC-104 server solution has been enhanced with additional IEC-104 Edition 2 data types and Causes for Transmission. These enhancements extend the capability and applicability of an already powerful solution. The new version also offers increased Event Buffer management options.

Features and Benefits

The MVI69-104S module acts as an input/output module between the IEC-870-5-104 Ethernet network and the CompactLogix backplane. Data transfer between the module and the processor is asynchronous from the actions on the network. Databases are defined by the user for the module to hold data as required by the protocol.
The MVI69-104S module is a powerful communication interface for CompactLogix platform processors. Developed under license from Rockwell Automation, the module incorporates proprietary backplane technology that enables powerful data access to the CompactLogix processor.

The MVI69-104S module accepts commands from an attached master unit. A port configured as a virtual slave permits a remote master to interact with all data contained in the module. This data can be derived from the CompactLogix processor. The remote master device uses the fully-configured databases in the module to control outputs and monitor inputs. The module can operate in balanced or unbalanced mode.

  • Supports time stamp events
  • Supports time and data synchronization from a master or the processor
  • Supports monitored data
  • Event queue supports 100 points for each data type
  • Supports Master Class 1 and Class 2 polls with configurable parameters
  • Acknowledgement transmission is handled internally by the module
  • Configurable data link address (session) and common ASDU address (sector)
  • Configurable pulse duration
