New CAN Bus, ControlNet Modules Now Available

ProSoft is happy to announce that two new modules are now available to connect your equipment.

CAN Bus Router

The new CAN Bus Router (shown above) connects EtherNet/IP™ devices or Modbus TCP/RTU and a CAN Bus network. This enables users to seamlessly integrate CAN Bus devices into a Rockwell Automation® Logix platform or any Modbus Client or Server device. The module features tools to simplify remote diagnosis, and can send and receive up to 100 pre-configured CAN Bus packets. In addition, the router features dual Ethernet ports that support device level ring (DLR) topology. This means that if the module’s Ethernet connection breaks at any point, data will continue to flow one way until it reaches each of the network’s devices, ensuring overall connectivity is maintained.

Organizations often struggle to extract data from legacy systems that are too costly to replace. Other CAN Bus Router types have limitations: CANopen routers focus on automation, J1939 aligns with the automotive sector, and DeviceNet supports industrial use cases.

The A-CANBR/B router solves this problem, acting as a traditional communication gateway module that gathers data from any device linked to a CAN Bus network.

ControlNet Fiber Repeater

A-CFR-Schematic-01

The new ControlNet Fiber Repeater extends the length of a customer’s network for point-to-point topology, and can also perform network media conversion from copper to fiber and vice-versa. It’s ideal for applications in which a medium-distance fiber link is needed between two ControlNet products. This connection enables isolation between nodes, making it less susceptible to the effects of a noisy environment than copper media.

The module’s benefits include:

· Legacy migration: Connect legacy devices and systems by expanding the distance of ControlNet networks using fiber media.

· Easy installation: Plug in cables to start the automatic conversion of data from ControlNet to fiber with no configuration.

· Efficiency gains: Eliminate electromagnetic interference for clearer connections and boost reliability by replacing copper with fiber.
